Must eat crow and Turkey! While no one called or responded to my e-mail - Fresh Direct delivered everything on my order - most importantly the Turkey... Wanted to make sure that I followed up my rant in the event someone else comes along as I did...This Thanksgiving I'm thankful for FD the moldy butter incident was really disgusting and offputting... Guess I should post complaints about Gristedes somewhere online!

Thanksgiving nightmare...

This may be the last time I use Fresh Direct. Two weeks ago they started using banners on the site which urged you to order a Fresh Turkey now or you would be without one and you must choose delivery on 11/21 or 11/22. I ordered on 11/10! Today my husband heard a story on NPR about Pecan Pie and urged me to make one - (contains corn syrup - ick)... Anyway when I placed my order most of the items I previously chose under threat of punishment (if you cancel an order after 11/19 you will be responsible to pay for half etc.) I add the pecans and the syrup (ick) and voila - no Turkey available until 11/28, no cranberries, no mushrooms - until 11/28... I made a call and sent an e-mail but without the proper response which would be of course we have your turkey and other items - this will be my last time ordering... Problem with my neighborhood - Gristedes - just bought a stick of butter there (for pumpkin tortelli w/sage and butter sauce) and it had mold on it - I have never seen moldy butter before! It may be D'agostino's for us after this (I'm sure they're happy to hear!) I really love the convenience of FD - you can order any time (well sort of) and get it delivered when wanted...
